A Candle In The Window

We knew the day was coming and now it’s very real. We just added a counter to the site here on the right hand side of the page. It’s counting the number of days my human-owner PFC Benjamin Jeffrey is deployed to Afghanistan.

This of course is very different than when we were counting the days of Basic Training at Fort Benning, GA. We knew he was still in country and we also knew the date of graduation.
This time around my human-owner is in Afghanistan and we don’t really know how long he will be there. So, we will count the days until we can announce his safe return home. Until then, we keep a candle burning in the window praying for a safe return.
“I will take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing, I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for”.

PFC Benjamin Jeffrey is our son. He's an active duty soldier currently with the 2nd Brigade Infantry stationed at FT Lewis, WA. When Ben was 10 he made a Build-A-Bear who is now General Sarge. This blog chronicles General Sarge's daily activities with me while Ben is away serving our country.
