Day 156: Future Soldier From Canandaigua, NY

Future Soldier From Canandaigua, NY – August 3, 2011

After our meeting yesterday with our Build-A-Bear friends at Eastview Mall we were walking along and happened to see two Army soldiers. General Sarge noticed very quickly one of the soldiers was wearing a blue cord which means he is in the infantry just like his human-owner PV2 Ben. Or course we just had to stop and say hello.

Day 156 - Future Soldier From Canandaigua, NY General Sarge was thrilled to meet SFC Schultz, Connor Seweryn and SSG Wilkins. SFC Schultz is the Station Commander and SSG Wilkins is a Recruiter from the Canandaigua, New York Army Recruiting Station. As we talked Connor was very interested in finding out about FT. Benning as he’s getting ready to ship there for Basic Training next month. While at FT. Benning Connor will be trained as a Cav Scout 19D.

It was a pleasure meeting his recruiters and here at General Sarge HQ we wish Future Soldier Connor all the best as he starts his Army career.

Day 144: Future Soldier Rachel At Basic Training

Future Soldier Rachel at Basic Training – July 13, 2011

It’s always exciting around General Sarge HQ when we hear from our Future Soldiers who have shipped out to Basic Training. Personally, after going through Basic with our two boys, it’s a pleasure to share the experience with other families as we celebrate their future soldiers accomplishments.

Today we’re highlighting Rachel Eddinger!

You may remember Rachel and Joe from Day 137 as we introduced them to you in the Future Soldiers Shipping Out post.

Rachel shipped to Fort Jackson, South Carolina on Independence Day weekend to start her Basic Training. After a week of in-processing she was ready to head down-range where the real work of Basic Training begins and Rachel is now part of Alpha Company 2-13th, 1st Platoon Dragons.

Rachel had her battle-buddy snap a picture of her in her ACU’s the night before leaving the in-processing area for her barracks down-range which she will call home for the next 8 weeks. As for a tip for other future soldiers preparing for Basic Training. Rachel wrote…

“Drill Sergeants are serious here! Don’t smile or mess around in formation. Most importantly, make sure you get tons of sleep before you go!”

Rachel we are all proud of you here at General Sarge HQ and we know you are doing well. We can hardly wait to get our first letter from you and we promise to write you back as soon as we get your address too.
