Monday Military Salute – Watkins Glen International
Monday, August 20, 2012

Michael Printup

WGI President Michael Printup

Today our Monday Military Salute is slightly different as we “salute” Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York.

I had the privilege of attending the Finger Lakes 355 NASCAR race during the weekend of August 10-12. It was great fun filled with fast cars, twisted turns and I met a lot of wonderful people too!

Here I am with Michael Printup, the President of Watkins Glen International. This was right after the Sprint Cup Drivers Meeting before the Finger Lakes 355 race on August 12. It was great hanging out with Michael and the wonderful staff and interns at WGI! They were all wonderful and very helpful as we’re preparing for a very special Veteran’s Day Fundraiser!

As you know my human-owner PFC Benjamin Jeffrey is currently deployed to Afghanistan. He’s due back home in the New Year and we are making plans to deploy teddy bears to children and families of any of our Fallen Heroes currently in Afghanistan as part of the 2/2 Stryker Brigade Team Team 2-1 Infantry Division from Fort Lewis, Washington.

We are planning an auction fundraiser during the first 11 days of November, concluding on November 11, 2012 – Veteran’s Day.

Betsy Mayer, the Public Relations Manager at Watkins Glen International was a great help to us too! Here we are posing above Gatorade Victory Circle on race day! Betsy helped us coordinate autographs on the bears from some great drivers including, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and the Bodine brothers. We also got one bear signed by the entire Motor Racing Network broadcast team and another bear signed by all the drivers who took part in the Finger Lakes 355!

Mark your calendars now for this incredible auction and be watching for updates on details of the auction coming soon!

Two paws up!
