Day 221 - Military Child of the Week Today we are saluting Kathleen Soysa from Rochester, New York.

On Friday, November 11, 2011 – Veterans’ Day – we attended a great event at the Calvary Chapel of Rochester, New York sponsored by the One Soldier at a Time organization.

This was their First Annual Veterans’ Day Salute.

We were very proud and honored to be invited to attend this event saluting our military veterans both past and present. As you can imagine there were plenty of kids at the event which made me very happy since I just love meeting kids! We also had some Gift-A-Bears with us and at the end of the event we held a draw!

Kathleen was very happy to have her name drawn and she picked this great Marine Gift-A-Bear outfitted in a his dress uniform.

Thanks To One Soldier At A Time

I’d also like to extend a special thanks to – and a great big “Two paws up” – to Lauren Coe the founder of One Soldier at a Time. Lauren you were a gracious host and you’re doing incredible work supporting our military families.

Keep up the fantastic work!

Two paws up!

  1. It was such an honor for me to be there, in uniform, and to have a hand in presenting this little girl her military Build-A-Bear.

    • Hi Tracy;

      And of course I was so happy to have you there! You give great hugs and squish my stuffing so good. Glad you could join us for this great event!

    Hope that you were able to get some other nominations for the Military child of the week and that many bears will be able to find a loving child to give them plenty of love and attention. It looks like this one has found a friend in Kathleen.

    • Hi Lynne;

      We do have some more nominations coming in and we are very happy for that. Kathleen was thrilled to have a new furry friend too and we’re so glad we could give her a Gift-A-Bear. Thanks for all your support!
