Military Child of the Week Salute
November 6, 2011
Today our Military Child of the Week Salute takes on a slightly different twist. Instead of saluting a single military child we are saluting a wonderful organization that celebrates military children in a very special way.
Celebrate the Military Child exits to bring parties to children of service members in every branch of the United States Military and Reserves honoring the sacrifice they make.
Since September 11, 2001 more than two million service members have deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan and more than 900,000 children have experienced a deployment. Currently approximately 220,000 military children have at least one parent deployed. Celebrate the Military Child recognizes the importance of parties in the Military Child’s life and believe the gift of celebration will provide normalcy, happiness and hope in these military children’s otherwise ever changing lives.
If the spirit of these children is lifted for just one day then Celebrate the Military Child’s mission has been accomplished.
The above is an excerpt from the Celebrate the Military Child website.
Military Child Celebrations
The first weekend in December Celebrate the Military Child is hosting an Operation Holiday Bonanza in San Diego and General Sarge has been invited to attend the celebration! I must admit I’m bursting at my furry seams as this is such an exciting event and one that I am proud to be invited to. They would also like my human-owners parents to attend too and we are now working out details so they can make the trip.
If you’d like to help with expenses please contact us here at General Sarge HQ by clicking the “Contact” button on the left hand side of your screen. Check the box beside “Donation To Help General Sarge Attend Celebrate the Military Child Event”. Remember, I operate under the umbrella of Fresh-Wind Ministries, a 501c3. which means you can make tax deductible donation.
Send us a note and we will be in touch with you work out the details.
Please consider making a donation to help get us to this wonderful celebration in San Diego December 3-4. There are also plans underway for a celebration next year at Fort Drum, New York. Of course I’m thrilled about that celebration too since Fort Drum is right here in my own backyard. I consider Fort Drum to be my home base.
