Day 193: Military Child of the Week Salute

Military Child of the Week Salute
September 26, 2011

As we start a new work week it’s time for our Military Child of the Week Salute here at General Sarge HQ! Please let your military friends know about this salute and be sure to make nominations! The name of the child goes into a year end draw for an opportunity to win their very own General Sarge Military Build-A-Bear through the Gift-A-Bear Campaign.

Today we salute Danielle Bacigalupo. Her father is Chief Warrant Officer James E. Bacigalupo IV who’s stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas with the 204th Military Intelligence Battalion. He recently returned from Kuwait in May of this year. Danielle is the sister of Jamie who was also a Military Child of the Week Salute.

Danielle’s mother writes;

Day 193 - Military Child of the Week“I’m nominating Danielle for the Military Child of the Week Salute given her time and enthusiasm she has for her eight year old sister’s 501c3 Angeles4Epilepsy organization which delivers gift bags to children in the hospital. Even though the focus is on epilepsy, there are no limits on who receives the gift bags. Danielle, who recently turned 4, saves her unopened Happy Meal toys to provide for children with epilepsy as part of her contribution. She is also instrumental in assembly the gift bags with all the toys, crafts and snacks and helps deliver the bags to the hospitals.”

Helping Her Sister!

“Danielle has an unknown pulmonary condition and since she’s been hospitalized numerous times, she knows how boring and scary a hospital can be. She also enjoys going to the store and helping pick out the toys and books that are included in the bags. Since 2010, when her sister Jamie first formed Angels4Epilepsy, she has helped deliver over 200 gift bags to children in Georgia and with the help of volunteers in Florida and Indiana.”

Danielle we are thrilled here at General Sarge HQ to salute you as our Military Child of the Week! We thank you for your hard work with your sister and truly showing once again how all military children are hard workers no matter what’s going on. Also, through the generosity of wonderful Gift-A-Bear Campaign supporters, General Sarge will be deploying a teddy bear to you soon too!

    • Hi Juanita!

      Yes Danielle does sound like a sweetheart. And how many kids her age do you know who are willing to give up their McDonald’s toys!

  3. Thank you so much for recognizing Danielle! She had a HUGE smile when I told her she is the Military Child of the Week! This is such a great program to let military kids they know are special for so many things especially for those that have to say “bye” to their parent(s) as Danielle often does.
