Day 190: Military Child of the Week Salute

Military Child of the Week Salute
September 19, 2011

As we start a new work week it’s time for our Military Child of the Week Salute here at General Sarge HQ! Please let your military friends know about this salute and be sure to make nominations! The name of the child goes into a year end draw for an opportunity to win their very own General Sarge Military Build-A-Bear through the Gift-A-Bear Campaign.

Today we not only salute a military child, but we also honor a soldier who recently passed away.

PVT. Kyle A. Durniok was part of the National Guard in Grove City, Pennsylvania. He was also battle-buddy to our son Ryan when they were both in Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC.

PVT Durniok enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard after completing his Advanced Training, specializing in human resource development.

Kyle was also a student at Slippery Rock University. He enjoyed lifting weights, jogging, meeting people, reading, computers and going to the Grove City YMCA. He loved people, his family and church and will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor and being a good friend.

As we remember PVT. Kyle Durniok today, we also salute his three month old son, Rex. As part of the Gift-A-Bear campaign and since our son Ryan and Kyle were battle-buddies at Basic Training – and at the request of Ryan – we are happy to be deploying a Fallen Hero Bear to Rex. While the teddy bear will by no means replace his Dad, our hope and prayer here at General Sarge HQ is that he will bring comfort to Rex and his mother, both now and in the future.

Staying Army Strong…and remaining steadfast in prayer for the Durniok family,
Dr. Rus
