As things continue moving forward here at General Sarge HQ and especially with the Gift-A-Bear Campaign moving forward it was time to start pondering who will write orders for the deployed bears.

On Saturday, August 20, 2011 General Sarge’s good friend PFC Buddy and his human-owner came to HQ for a visit and General Sarge had a surprise for Buddy.

With the Unit all gathered at HQ and SFC TGLewis reading the new orders – PFC Buddy was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Here’s the ceremony with Colonel Sarge and Master Sarge watching as General Sarge promoted Buddy to the rank of CPL Buddy.

While CPL Buddy’s MOS stays as Civil Affairs his new orders have him working directly with the Gift-A-Bear Campaign Deployment Bears.

CPL Buddy is in charge of making sure the new deployment bears are all ready for their new orders to report to their military families for active duty of encouraging them. That means he not only is in charge of writing the new deployment orders, but he also has to be aware of all the various branches of the military as we not only deploy to Army families, but also Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and the Marines.

I’m sure CPL Buddy is working hard to sort out all the various aspects of his new job and I’m also sure he is up for the challenge too. I also know if he has any questions he ask his human-owner SPC Tracy Bonzo.

  1. Buddy is very excited about his new position and loves it already! And yes, he has been hounding me with lots of questions. He is one bear that is very eager to learn – kind of like his human-owner. 😉

  2. Congratulations to “Corporal” Buddy 😉

  3. Congrats to Corporal Buddy. Glad TGLEWIS got to read the new orders. Reading is definitely something he loves doing!

  4. You will do well, CPL Buddy!

  5. Hope that the program continues to grow and expand to reach many children-despite being non-military I am partial to helping children deal with life as a military offspring. Hope that the bears and purple cat are well loved and help the child that receives them.

  6. Congratulations to Corporal Buddy for his recent promotion. I am sure he will excel in his new role as he sounds like a hard working bear.
