Day 137: Future Soldiers Shipping Out

Future Soldiers Shipping Out – July 2, 2011

It’s Independence Day Weekend and here at General Sarge HQ we are celebrating it in style. Of course the July 4th weekend is a big one in the United States. A time for celebrations, a time for cookouts and parades and of course fireworks displays too.

Aside from all those celebrations, General Sarge and Master Sarge made a special visit to the Newark, New York Army Recruiting Station to see two Future Soldiers off as they head for Basic Training this weekend. The preparation is complete, physicals passed and even physical training exercise tests passed too. It’s now time for these two Future Soldiers to start their Basic Training.

Let The Journey Begin!

Rachel Eddinger is heading to Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After she completes her Basic Training she will start Advanced Training as an Apache Helicopter Repair person. Joe Card makes his way to Fort Benning, Georgia. He will spend his entire training time at Fort Benning for the Infantry.

Day 137 - Future Soldier Push Ups

We wish both Rachel and Joe all the best and say a great big “Two paws up” from all of us here at General Sarge HQ for their service. It’s taken a lot of hard work to get here and now the journey for these young people begins.

Before heading out General Sarge wanted to make sure Rachel could do the required push ups as a new recruit. She passed with flying colors and Master Sarge has assured me the proper push up paperwork is now on its way to Fort Jackson. I also think General Sarge put in a extra note telling her Drill Sergeant to add an extra five push ups to each PT test for Rachel. Apparently General Sarge knows Rachel goes above and beyond.

Staying Army Strong!
