Race Day – May 29, 2011
Memorial Day Weekend and racing go hand in hand. For years now the Sunday of Memorial Day has been a big day when it comes to racing. Not only is it time for the running of the historic Indy 500, but the NASCAR series tosses in their longest race of the year with the Coca Cola 600. When it comes to recognizing our men and women in uniform, no one does it better than those involved in motor sports. If you’ve ever been to a NASCAR or an Indy Car race, you know what I’m talking about. This is a big weekend celebration of speed and remembering those who have not only served, but those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, their lives.
General Sarge, not wanting to be left out on this big day of racing, grabbed up an Indy Car Experience tag for todays picture. He’s looking cool in his shades and ready for a ride in a fast car!
How will we spend out afternoon and evening at General Sarge HQ today? Watching the Indy 500 followed by the Coca Cola 600.
As the Indy 500 is on TV we’ll also pause to watch a Memorial Day parade that will go right underneath our window here too. We live in an upstairs apartment on Main Street and there’s always a great Memorial Day parade to watch too.
Have a great race day!
Staying Army Strong,
