Task Force Member – Gunny Bear
April 15, 2011
A military Task Force is made up of people from all branches of the military. Up to this point the members of the General Sarge Task Force have all been Army bears. But today is different! Today General Sarge is proud to introduce you to the newest member of his Task Force who happens to be from the Marines.
Please say hello to Marine Corp Gunnery Sergeant Gunny Bear! General Sarge has been friends with Major Hank from Devil Dog Brew for quite some time. Gunny’s human-owner is Kendri, Major Hank’s son. Kendri’s girlfriend Merrie got the Build-A-Bear for Kendri this past Valentine’s Day. They named him Penguin. But when Kendri heard about General Sarge and all he’s doing with his Dad, he decided Penguin needed a Marine’s uniform and a name change. As a result, Gunny Bear was born! He’s looking very smart in his dress uniform here.
Families First Campaign
Not only is Major Hank a great friend he’s also helping with the Families First Campaign as well. Through Devil Dog Brew, Major Hank has made available an exclusive General Sarge Coffee-Post Card Travel Pack. The proceeds from the sales of this special package of Devil Dog Brew coffee, along with a signed General Sarge Post Card, goes toward helping a family off-set their travel expenses to attend the graduation of their future hero.
You will not be disappointed with the coffee and you’re also supporting a great cause.
Aside from sending along the picture of Gunny Bear, Major Hank also sent a picture of him visiting the Build-A-Bear store at Branson Landing in Branson, Missouri.
Here at General Sarge HQ we’re thrilled to have the support of Build-A-Bear in what we’re doing. Especially since General Sarge is a Build-A-Bear and many of the others on the Task Force are Build-A-Bears too.
As a matter of fact, as we prepare to head off to Ben’s graduation at Fort Benning, GA we’ve already scouted out Build-A-Bear locations and will be visiting them! With that in mind and since we know we’ll be adding more Build-A-Bear Store pictures in the days ahead General Sarge has added a new photo album into his General Sarge photo album set on Flickr.
Staying Army Strong!
